Join youth from across North Carolina on a transformative journey connecting rich historical heritage with sacred worship. Organized through a collaboration between MYCC-RDU (Muslim Youth and Community Center), MAS Raleigh, and Al Noor Islamic Center, this expedition offers Muslim youth a meaningful opportunity to explore ancient history in Cairo before embarking on Umrah in Makkah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
Led by Trip Leader Abdelrahman Tageldin and operated by Arkanum Adventures, you’ll share moments of reflection, fellowship, and spiritual connection with peers from our local community.
🇪🇬 Cairo: Legacy & Wonder
Begin your journey walking through centuries of history in Cairo. Stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza, explore the historic pathways and markets of Fatimid and Mamluk Cairo, and pray in historic centers of learning and worship like Al-Azhar Mosque and Al-Hussain Mosque. This opening chapter sets a reflective foundation before stepping onto the sacred lands of Arabia.
In Makkah, you’ll join together as a group to perform Umrah, and offering your prayers at Masjid al-Haram alongside believers from every corner of the world. You’ll stay at the Anjum Makkah Hotel, conveniently located just steps from the Haram to ensure easy access to the Grand Mosque throughout the day and night.
Continue to Madinah to experience the serene tranquility of the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) and the blessing of praying in the Rawdah. You will be accommodated at Saja Al Madinah, placing you within easy reach of the Haram. Together, the group will visit significant historical landmarks, including Mount Uhud and Masjid Quba, the first mosque built in Islam.

Depart from Washington Dulles (IAD) on your journey toward Cairo. Prepare for travel with rest and focus on the spiritual trip ahead.
Arrive in Cairo via Istanbul, check into your hotel, and take time to rest after your flight. Spend a relaxed evening getting settled.
Visit the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx to explore Egypt’s ancient history up close. Afterwards, enjoy a guided horseback ride through the desert surrounding the monuments.
Explore historic Islamic Cairo with visits to Al-Azhar Mosque and Al-Hussain Mosque. Conclude your day walking through the traditional pathways and shops of Khan el-Khalili market.
Fly from Cairo to Jeddah and transfer by bus to your hotel in Makkah. After check-in, gather with your group to perform Umrah at the Grand Mosque.
Spend the morning visiting historical sites including Jabal al-Nour and the area near Cave Hira*. Dedicate the remainder of the day to prayer and quiet reflection in Masjid al-Haram.

Spend a full day focused on worship, Qur'an reading, and personal reflection at the Grand Mosque. Take advantage of the quiet hours for tawaf and group gatherings.
Check out from Makkah and travel by bus across the desert to Madinah. Check into your hotel and offer evening prayers at Masjid an-Nabawi.
Spend the day at Masjid an-Nabawi, including your scheduled visit to the Rawdah Shareefa. Use the remaining time for worship, sending salawat, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the Prophet’s city.
Take a guided tour to historical landmarks around Madinah, including Uhud, Masjid Quba and Masjid Qiblatain. Learn about the early history of the community and the prophetic tradition.
Spend your final full day in Madinah visiting the Haram for prayers and personal reflection. Prepare your luggage and gather with the group for final farewells before departure.
Check out early in the morning and transfer to Madinah Airport for your return flight to Washington Dulles (IAD) via Istanbul.
